25 Uses For A Military Ammo Can

uses for military ammo can

Ammo cans are awesome. Here are 74 different uses for a military ammo can:

Firearms / Hunting

  • Use an ammo can to store ammo.
  • Use an ammo can to store used brass.
  • Use an ammo can to store your hand guns.
  • Use an ammo can to store gun parts.
  • Use an ammo can to store reloading equipment.
  • Use an ammo can to store magazines.
  • Use an ammo can to cover your deer feeder timer mechanism.
  • Use an ammo can as a safety container / amplifier for early warning devices, trip flares, booby traps, etc. The ammo can keeps the effects localized, and keeps the ground water away.
  • Use an ammo can as a bench rest at the range.
  • Use an ammo can as hunter’s boxes to store necessities when hunting in wet areas, especially for items you want to keep clean and dry.
  • Use an ammo can as a range cart by adding a handle, wheels, and rifle mounts for moving your gear around the range between stages.
  • Use an ammo can as a improvised bunker buster. Put a hole in the ammo can big enough to put your fuse through, fill can with C4, and improvised shrapnel, throw ammo can into bunker or drop from helicopter. Ammo can is too big to go into grenade sump, too clumsy to catch and throw back, and has more power than a hand grenade.

Vehicles / Tools

  • Attach an ammo can to the rear bumper like a bumper extension. It may be cheaper to replace the ammo can than the bumper if you have a habit of backing into things.
  • Use an ammo can to store tire chains.
  • Use an ammo can to store winch accessories and spare parts.
  • If you have a Jeep, use an ammo can as a lockable container.
  • Use a large size ammo can (ex. 40″X30″X18″)to store your larger vehicle tools – axe, folding shovel, mattock, jack, etc.
  • Use an ammo can to store tire chalk.
  • Use an ammo can as a catch box for oil change.
  • Use an ammo can as a jack stand for a small car.
  • Use an ammo can for holding nails, screws, etc.. They don’t leak, so the nails don’t rust, and the nails can’t poke through the sides.
  • Use an ammo can to store grease and oil you don’t want leaking everywhere, i.e. small containers of epoxy, grease, glue, thread lockers, wire lube, and any other important stuff used in small quantities and packaged in fragile containers which could get crushed in a tool box.
  • Use an ammo can as a tire chock.
  • Use an ammo can as counter weights for a tractor. Fill with rocks or sand.
  • Use an ammo can as custom painted motorcycle saddlebags.
  • Use an ammo can as custom painted bicycle saddlebags.

Put a metal electrical box with a lamp socket mounted on the bottom of the box. A 100 watt lamp will put out some heat and you don’t have to worry about an open flame or it falling over.
  • Use an ammo can as a stove. Drill ten 1/2 inch diameter holes along both sides 1 inch above the bottom of the can and a 2 inch diameter hole in one end to feed in the fuel and ten 3/16″ diameter holes along the top to put the skewers through to form the grill.

I use them for storage containers behind the seats of my ute/flatbed pick-up . Things like electrical kits , cargo net , some first aid bandages , toilet paper . I havent tried it but mounted under the hood of a vehicle to heat food during long trips ?

I’m not entirely sure what good an EMP proof desktop computer is, unless you can find an ammo can big enough to store your local power grid.

I think they assume you have a protected power source as well. A generator of some type or solar charging and batteries available.
